May Lecture - "From tiny scraps of paper do large family trees grow…"
Our 2024-25 lecture series continues with a talk entitled ‘From tiny scraps of paper do large family trees grow…’
We are delighted to welcome Midie Corcoran who has been researching the Corcoran line of Millers & Millwrights. The Corcorans were exiled from Tipperary during the Cromwellian invasion and since settled in Tuam and North Galway.
The Corcorans have been noted as being one of the oldest resident families of Tuam and Midie will deliver a snapshot of their history in the town. By using family history & lore, church & civil records & DNA, he has built a substantial family tree which inadvertently contains a comprehensive, but by no means yet complete, history of the connections to various other Tuam businesses and families going back to the 1800’s who's genealogy will also be explored.
The talk will take place on Thursday 29th May, in the Miller's House, off Shop Street at 7.30pm. All Welcome.
