October Event 2022 - Tuam's High Cross and Chancel Arch

The Old Tuam Society is delighted to host an in-person event to formally mark our recent online launch of our ‘Digitising the Medieval Monuments of Tuam’ project. This event will bring together expert archaeologists to discuss the significance of the medieval Romanesque monuments in Tuam such as the high cross and chancel arch as well as the recently completed digital project itself. The panel discussion will take place in St Mary's Cathedral under the gaze of the cross and arch. The digital project was made possible by a Community Monument Fund grant from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Our guest panel will include Chris Corlett from the National Monuments Service, archaeologist Dr Christy Cunniffe and Gary Dempsey (Digital Heritage Age, who carried out the digitisation process).

This event will take place Friday, 7 October at 8 pm in St Mary's Cathedral, High Street, Tuam.

All Welcome
