March Lecture - The Connaught Rangers and the Fog of War
In what promises to be a fascinating lecture Damien Quinn will examine how the
Connaught Rangers Regiment are remembered in 21st century Ireland through their
representation in oral, nationalist and British imperial histories. In
particular, links between Tuam and the "Devil's Own" will be
highlighted.
Damien Quinn's area of specialist research is Irishmen who served in the British Army. Damien's M. Litt thesis, entitled "The Connaught Rangers and the Wars of Empire 1793-1922" is a survey of "The Devil's Own" regiment's experience and involvement in imperial conflicts.
